Thanks for the support !

Saturday, April 10th, 2010

Mucho Gracias to those of you who have signed on with the annexing concept.  It’s good to see there is support for the concept out there.

Looking at the newspapers this week made it even more depressing for Killeenites.  Wednesday KDH headline “Bullets fly at Barbershop” shows how little the police can do after several gangbangers shot up the barbershop on Rancier.  They completely got away! (Hope they don’t come to your neighborhood.)

Another headline read “Housing rules look to clean up Killeen”.  Another entry in the on-going saga between Killeen city officials and delvelopers who run roughshod over clean-up ordinances.  Why bother Killeen, if you are not going to enforce them anyway.

In Tuesday’s KDH, JoAnn Purser is quoted “Let the market dictate what the market is.” Yes Joanne - let the temporary inhabitants have a greater voice than those who make Killeen their home.  She is also quoted as saying “I’m curious as to what we’re trying to fix.”  It must be nice to be clueless - oh wait, whe’s the one advocating a butterly exhibit/museum with your tax $.

Where is Billy Workman - I didn’t see him mentioned at all.  I guess that’s for the best.

It’s all in the Statistics

Tuesday, March 30th, 2010

Got some stats fro the KDH’s Progress 2010 Supplements to last Sundays paper.

1.  The Harker Heights Chamber  in 2009 increased their membership to 900.

2.  New businesses are constantly moving to Heights:  Fitness XPress, Fat Daddy’s Pizzeria, Compass Trading Company, Stetson Cigars, Knockouts, Kirkland’s, Wise Guys, Freedom Urgent Care, and several more.  Do they know something Killeen doesn’t? Hhmmmm.

3.  Portions of Indian Trail are being rebuilt to accomodate traffic growth.  No such similar endeavor in Killeen.  Why not?

4.  They opened the first section of the Harker Heights Community Park and phase two is under construction.  In addition, the city council agreed to let the city manager negotiate for Purser Family Park.  The park will be one of two large parks coming to the city in the future.

You get the idea - Heights is growing while Killeen implodes from the huge daily traffic jams.
